Training for intercultural communication and team building: focus on China

Intercultural communication workshop, scavenger hunt, meal together in a Chinese restaurant

What is the workshop about?

Interactive introduction to relevant cultural and communication theories, group work, presentation of the results of the group work and concluding discussion in plenary. Mixed Chinese-German groups will be formed for the group work phase.

Designed to develop cultural communication and behavioural skills:

1. raising awareness of one's own partly unconscious (communication) behaviour and intercultural differences in verbal and non-verbal communication

2. learning what cultural competence means, which factors can influence perception and to what extent our perception can influence our communication behaviour

3. learn to reflect on your own behaviour, develop an awareness of your own cultural imprint and put theory into practice in small German-Chinese groups.

What is team building training about?

In small Chinese-German groups, we go in search of "treasures".

Learning objectives:

- to identify and optimally utilise the resources available in the team through effective communication
- to solve tasks together
- mastering challenges together

Target group

Chinese and German students who are interested in exchanging ideas with students from a different cultural background and are willing to contribute their own - intercultural - experiences to the workshop.
